• Safely using hand and precision tools; observing all safety and sanitation rules
• Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams
• Planning and preparing jobs based on engineering drawings, specifications, and other materials
• Using lathes, mills, saws, drills, grinders, and welding equipment to build and prepare tooling
• Performing NC/CNC machining by identifying, selecting and setting up cutting tools
• Learning about pneumatics/hydraulics, power transmission systems, and electrical components in order to assemble, integrate, and test their functionality on a machine tool

• Grade 12/age 16 legal minimum; English, advanced math, and physics credits assets
• Completion of a 7,280-hour on-the-job apprenticeship and three 8-week sessions of in-school training
