What is Gateway to the Trades?
Gateway to the Trades is a part-time, facilitated skilled trades exploration and employment-readiness program that will equip participants with the skills and connections to find meaningful employment in the skilled trades.
Join us for 5 weeks of programming that includes:
- Skilled trades career awareness
- Health and safety training
- Numeracy skills for the trades
- Financial literacy
- Job search and interview skills
Participants will also make connections with skilled trades employers who are hiring and, if hired in a skilled trades role, will receive wrap-around supports, such as tools and safety equipment.

This virtual program will require a commitment of 1-3 hours per week. Participants will require access to a computer, the internet, speakers and a microphone. If participant require assistance acquiring these items, please let the program team know.
Participants will have the opportunity for in-person employer visits and networking events.
To be eligible, individuals must be out of high school - either graduated, graduating soon, or out of high school and requiring assistance completing their final credits.
This program is funded through the Government of Ontario's Skills Development Fund. As such, ApprenticeSearch.com is required to collect participant registration forms (in addition to this application), and to share that data with our funder. Every participant accepted into this program will be required to complete a participant registration form prior to starting the program.
